I’m not saying I feel it’s wrong to be inspired by something, I am saying it is wrong to change yourself to be like someone else because you don’t like who you are. I think change is wonderful, but only improving yourself, not morphing into another person.

It is a fine line, and trust me, I have had my share of trying to “improve” myself, in the end I will always come back to being me. BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT WE NEED TO DO. WE NEED TO EXCEPT OURSELVES AS WE ARE AND LOVE OURSELVES THE WAY WE ARE, no matter how hard it seems. That right there, is the biggest self improvement one can manage.

And self improvement is not something I would personally take lightly since when you change, everyone around you has to, your environment has to, your reality shifts a little whether you realize it or not.

It IS a big deal, and for all your talk about women being more independent and intelligent….The women that are that way did not get there by beig inspired by someone else…they were inspired by THEMSELVES.

You even said that “trying to be all these things is sooo hard!” yes, it is hard. So what that you are loud, and think you are not as smart? the people around you love you for that, you help create the balance, and I don’t think there is anything wrong with change or self improvement, but just make sure you know where you are going to end up…..right back where you started.

Don't be like Rory Gilmore, be like you. 3 years ago

Don’t be like Rory Gilmore. Be yourself is a better goal. I think it’s nice to have a show that centers around a smart girl and a smart world, but you can’t model yourself like someone else because that isn’t being honest with you or the people around you. Now, bringing out the parts of your personality that are similar to Rory’s is a different story, and everyone has the potential to be smart and funny and cute.

Oh, and Rory Gilmore hasn’t turned into that strong role model after all. If you watch her character nowadays, you can see how she’s domesticated herself, how passive aggressive she and her mother have become. Don’t idolize them because their characters are human, and have faults.

You won’t truly be happy until you agree to accept yourself.

And, Rory Gilmore is not a real person, she always looks perfect because she’s got twenty people at her covering her ‘faults’ in make-up.
She talks fast because they’ve got twelve people writing a script. SHE’S NOT RRRREEAAALLLL!
