Personal Training

Maybe i am close to the job for me, but as of now, i am not sure this is it. I thought i wanted to personal train, and i think i still want to, but my attitude has changed since i first got hired. I recently got hired at a very nice and exclusive fitness club and I used to love being at there, and talked to everyone in the club to try and build my clientele. Now its been 2 months, and i can’t seem to find that same energy that i had when i first started. I used to go to work, using it as an outlet for the rest of my life, now i just go there because i have to. I like training people, but its the building my clientele that is hurting me and putting down my self esteem. I know i am a great personal trainer but i feel that because i look younger that people may not take my seriously. I am also a really friendly girl, but at times, i wonder if my lack of confidence when approaching the members is making me look like i may not be a good personal trainer.

I look at some of the top personal trainers at my gym and wonder if they even like training because they are never smiling, yet here i am always smiling and having a great time with my clients that i do have..while still giving them a good workout of course! I do love training, but how can i build my clientele so that i feel like i have a position as a personal trainer at the gym? It doesn’t help any that every few weeks, our manager puts our ranking on display for all to see, and low and behold, my name on the bottom, while the other two trainers who i got hired with are already deep in the mix of the rest of the personal trainers, building their clientele happily.

I am fresh out of college, no money, and can’t run to my parents for help. They’d love to help me, but they struggle themselves. I work constantly and have nothing to show for it. I try to build my clientele at the gym, but it just isn’t working. I want to talk to my manager to try and get help, but I have tried, and it doesn’t do too much, plus i’ll probably start to get emotional and then she’ll just look at me like what is wrong with her? I already want to go back to college just to find another job which i can enjoy and be financially stable, but i can’t because i have way to much loan money as it is to pack on more loans.

Is it bad that i am tempted to go back to dancing? At least then i am way more than financially stable. I am also so much more confident in myself in and outside of work, which is a great feeling
