I recently finished the book of Ecclesiastes a few days ago and I have to say it’s been the most depressing thus far, at first that is. The teacher is basically saying everything is useless. Evil people will die, good people will die, we will all go back to dust into the earth so everything is useless. But live and rely on God was really the message at the end, because yes everyone will die but what we do on this earth, how we treat each other how we follow the Lord is not useless because after this time on earth there is life with him.

My goodness a long book, sometimes I just skim a few pages at a time beings they are mostly prayers but i’m still working on it.
I just finished job starting on psalms. It really just amazes me actually I can’t even imagine everything Job went through and he never once denounced the Lord, there have been many times in my life that something bad has happened and I didn’t so much denouce the Lord, but I never bowed down in worship either, like Job did. Tho little by little that I read and build my relationship and find my faith the things that I would normally find bad in my life I don’t always see that way and have found that I thank the Lord for taking me in a different direction.
Im currently on chapter 8, just a few more and I’ll be done with this book. I found kings to be a lot of the same thing over and over and it just amazes me how the next king in line saw and heard what the Lord did when his father didn’t keep to the laws and yet they kept making the same mistakes over and over.
The Old Testament is really hard at times to get through and a lot of times I really don’t understand what they are doing, espeically in Judges how ever time one of the forefathers died the people turned aganist the Lord again until he punished them for so many years then repented, it’s a very strange cycle. I finished Judges and Ruth, and i’m really not too sure why Ruth was a sep book from Judges. I am now on Samuel chapter 1 and i think i will take a break and try and wrap my head around the few books I just read. This is a goal that’s going to take a while, now I understand why people take a good year to read the bible.
The old Testament is a real eye opener that is for sure. I now am in Judges and it just amazes how angry The Lord got and how we all should be thankful for Jesus other wise our world would be so much different.
If you can get through Numbers and Deuteronomy then Joshua is lighter. I’d suspect a person would need to really be a history or theology scholar to really find Numbers or Deuteronomy a great read.
I only have a few more chapters of Joshua and sometimes reading what I have, it’s obivous what a grim world this was back then, but when you see all the killing, sexual abuse, child abuse, etc. that goes on in our world today, sometimes it seems like nothing has changed! Food for thought.
I’m now on numbers chapter 25, and it’s very boring and full of strange rituals but thankfully we don’t have to do those anymore. Don’t get me wrong there are some intresting things i’ve read and things that have made me think but mostly i’ll be happy when I’m done with Numbers
Harder than one might thing, I’ve made it through to Numbers chapter 3 and have taken a break.
