sew my own clothes

I made some green pants out of a cool woven silk/linen fabric, and the after first day I wore them, the seams are already coming apart! I don’t think it’s me or the machine though, it’s just one of those woven fabrics that frays really easily, so it’s fraying off the seam. Will have to work out a way to reinforce it :(

Right. Got an overlocker for christmas, and then made a t-shirt for a fancy dress party – was very proud! High school sewing lessons definitely helped on that score, what I could remember anyway!

Found a cool fabric shop near my house, and bought some different coloured threads for the machine, bought some offcuts of fabrics, and am also in the process of remaking some old favourite (and out of date) items of clothing into cool, funky styles :)

So far have eschewed the use of patterns, and trying to get away with never using them – more fun to cut around your existing clothes, design your own and wing it…must get a dummy to pin my creations on though…so definitely getting there!
