Save money

We’re going to move house (currently renting a very large and very expensive house)..downsize in size and price!

Ways next year we can cut down on spending:

1. No takeaway AT ALL
2. Cut off Foxtel (which we are definately doing)
3. Move house to something cheaper – although sometimes the cost involved in moving negate actually dropping the price in rent. The other side of it is to move to the area where I work and Tara will go to school, so lots of walking. And it’s nice and close to town as well.
4. No clothes for Tyrone and I all year
5. Don’t upgrade the car once the loan is paid out in a few months time – as tempting as it is to upgrade and continue with the loan, this alone will save us a good chunk of money each month.
6. Cut up my credit card.
7. Increase the amount of tax taken out of our pays by $20 each per week thereby giving us a better tax return.

Any other suggestions greatly appreciated!

big time this year. So much that I’m embarressed to say. Lived way beyond our means and 2008 will be the year of suffering for it.

So to not drag ourselves down even further, the plan for 2008 is to save save save save! I have a budget. It will work easily if we stick to it.

This week’s saving plan is to eat from the freezer and pantry and only buy fresh stuff as needed. I think I could probably easily do this for two weeks!
