Start Debt (May 2007): $25000
As of December 2nd 2009: $2835.97
Goal = $0
Close, but still no cigar! Work is drying up a bit… and I getting scared. I still need to work 40 more “days” to get Employment Insurance for the summer. Supply teaching – not the most dependable income. We’re trying hard. I’m also taking Special Education Part 2 from January until May… that was $650, but I’m hoping it will get me a job!

As of November 12th 2009: $3980.00
Goal = $0
My husband and I are just dumping money onto our loan now that we’re so close. We have a bit of savings just sitting around in the account, so we put a bit of that onto the loan. We’re waiting for a few more pay days to make another deposit, and we’ll probably do one more and then DONE. I’m so close I can TASTE IT!

Start Debt (May 2007): $25000
As of November 3rd 2009: $7922.62
Goal = $0
I’m getting so close that it is almost possible for me to have this paid off within the next year if I am really focused. The only issue I have with paying it off sooner is that I am only supply teaching, and so is the husband. We have no steady income, although we both have EI. Our bank accounts need to be replenished a bit (back to comfortable average – emergency funds). We’re trying to figure out if it is worth just putting the lump sum right onto the debt and just sit back and replenish the loan afterwards, or just keep doing what we are doing…
... and we are going to talk about it again, right now.

Midway Goal!
4 months ago
Start Debt (May 2007): $25000
As of August 31: $9000
Goal = $0
Right on! $9000! I am under the $10000 mark.
I might not be able to put on a lot over the next couple of months, as my husband and I are unemployed (we are supply teachers with no stable income). Family vacation in Florida for Christmas, taking Special Education Part 1 (husband and I = $1300, hopefully will help in the job hunt), etc. So, we’ve been living poor and just doing the bare minimum.
We’ve talked about our next goal when my debt is finished – save up for a downpayment on a house! :) It will be 20% or more if we can go with it!

Start Debt (May 2007): $25000
As of May 27: $10600
Goal = $0
Slowly getting there. I’ve had and paid for a wedding in that time, so I think I’ve been doing quiet well! My husband and I are both teachers in Ontario – but are not hired on permanently yet. So, when I done covering this maternity leave in June, I’ll be on unemployment. If we didn’t have to worry about saving for the summer, my debt would be paid off by now (but we’d be dirt poor). :)

Start Debt: $25000
As of March 8: $13000
Goal = $0
I’m slow going… I got married in August and it wiped out a bit of savings. We’ve also had to cut back, because my husband doesn’t have a full time teaching job. So, I’m just making the basic payments and saving up our resources so that we will be alright for rent, etc. Always have an emergency fund!!
Eventually the debt will be gone. It’s a goal and I’ll get there eventually. :) It isn’t going up! In 17 months I have paid off $10000 worth of the debt. I think that’s pretty damn good. I might go out and buy myself a birthday cupcake just to celebrate!

Alright – so I went to my union (heart unions!) and they’re fighting the government for me, same with my school board… hurrah. I will get my money, damn it!
On the brighter side – I’m still floating around what my loan was at before. I just haven’t moved any closer to paying it back. At least I haven’t fallen backwards.
**Shh… my friends had to sell some of their stuff to pay for rent because they spend too much. Holy shit that’s scary.

Well. I haven’t worked for two months because I’m a teacher and July and August is part of the off season. I do not have a contract and am just a supply teacher for now.
I applied for Employment Insurance for the two months of coverage. Unfortunately, they declined me any money and now I have to appeal. Go figure.
So, no money on the loan. Oh well. I’m back to work now… money!

Start Debt: $25 000 (all school debt – beginning May 1 2007)
1 month ago: $18 000
as of June 1: $16 000
Goal: $0!
Slowly getting there. Employment Insurance will be kicking in (teachers have seasonal employment – at least those that are not on contract!) so I don’t anticipate any huge payments. As well, trying to pay for a wedding too… but debt is important to be rid of.
