Transformed my thinking 1 week ago

My keyword this year was Opportunity. I couldn’t have chosen a more suitable word for this year’s theme. It helped me so much with decision making and with being open to new experiences. I know the year is not done yet, but I will call this complete to make way for some more goals on my list. This goal has been the most helpful and motivating of all the goals I’ve had on here and I may find myself trying this again next year with another word, if I can find another one that feels right.

Cheers to opportunites :)

Going strong 2 months ago

My year would have been a different experience all together if it wasn’t for my word – Opportunity. I find myself accepting, inviting and creating opportunities wherever I can.
I have had the opportunity to meet some great like minded people and learn many new things.
This year feels like it’s mine :)

This quote appeared on a article on msn website,
“Small opportunities are often the beginning of great enterprises.” — Demothenes, 384-322 BC, Greek statesman

I love my word. On several occasions this year, it’s given me inner strength and optimism when I find myself in decision making mode.

There are so many opportunities to take advantage of this year.
Life is beautiful :)

Happiness Workshop 7 months ago

A friend invited me to go to an Indian festival last weekend. Apart from looking forward to having Indian for lunch, I didn’t have any expectations of the day. I ended up having a great time watching the Indian dancing and colour throwing festivities. I also wandered into a tent and listened in on a Happiness workshop. Topics discussed were the importance of visualisation, gratitude, having a positive self concept, language and labels and most importantly, the lesson that everything in life is a choice, an opportunity.
How apt! The word opportunity is never to far from my thoughts, being my one word resolution for 2009. I love this word, it has served me so well this year so far :)

My word 10 months ago

I wanted a word I find inspiring and easy to apply to my existing goals. A word that fills me with hope and possibility and empowers me in all situations. A word that reminds me of my achievements, at the same time inspiring me to create a beautiful future.
For me, opportunity sums it up nicely.

When I reflect on my past, I see opportunities I have taken and created, which have resulted in some great life experiences and lessons. I also see some notable opportunities I have consciously neglected. Too often in the past I have resisted change, and missed some valuable experiences. Without being too hard on myself, I know I’ve been a creature of habit in a lot of ways, and looking to change that.

In 2009, my goal is to seek out and create opportunities for myself. I have had a comfortable couple of years and feel gratitude for all the great stuff I have around me, but this year I feel compelled to live, learn, grow.

There are opportunities that exist around me at this moment. Just being who I am, where I am, allows me a great amount of freedom of choice. I have have enough knowledge, stability, finances to do so many things. At this stage of life I have no commitments like a mortgage, partner or children and should look at that as an opportunity to do anything I want on a whim, like travel to a fairytale city.

With the focus on opportunity, I will look areas such as;

Friendships and relationships, career, music/arts/crafts, travel, finance

I also will use this word to remind me that unexpected things can occur can be opportunities in disguise. Sometimes things that don’t seem that great at the time, turn into great opportunities.

One of my favourite things about this word, is it makes me look at areas of my life that need focus, but I also find this word encourages me to look at the big picture.

Good luck everyone on this goal:)
