(10) I have a batik cotton throw that I’ve owned since I was seventeen. I remember buying it with my birthday money. It still appeals to my taste today. I had an idea it might look good as a cover on the lounge in my room. Looks great and visually anchors the cushions. I don’t want to close my eyes and sleep even though I’m so tired. I just want to look at my lovely looking lounge ;)!

9) I made a fridge magnet in the style of the Sydney tram signs. It’s on the fridge and the first thing I now see when I go in the kitchen.
It’s only a magnet, but it enhances the vibe :)
8) Dad restored the finish on a small set of drawers that I was using as a bedside table. He did such a great job that the drawers look much more beautiful now than when I bought them years ago. I now have them in another position in the room, and using them to house some stationery supplies and camera and phone cables. Feels more zen and ordered :)
5)I have a bookmark that I bought some years ago, with an affirmation I particularly liked. I laminated the bookmark, and it’s been sitting in my drawer ever since. Today I put it inside the bathroom cabinet so I can look it every day;
“For Those Who Believe Anything is Possible”- St Bernard of Clairvaux
6) I framed a card dad gave me a few birthdays ago. It’s a very small card, only about 7×7cm, with a copy of a Turkish art pattern. It looks so nice in the frame, makes me smile looking at it
7) My mobile phone charger has an extremely bright blue LED light. I’ve put a decorative sticker over that light so I’ll no longer be bothered by the bright light
Some of the things on this list are really small, but small things can really enhance a space and the way I feel towards it.
I might go another round when I’m done :)
4)I bought a clothes rack for my clothes that don’t fit in my wardrobe ;) I will work at letting go of some of my clothing items, but the rack has given me a place to put my jackets
This goal is inspiring me to make some nice changes in my living space.
Now I need to think of six more things and I’m done :)
I find goals easier to work towards when I quantify them.
Here are the first few things I’ve done, which are small things, but have made a positive impact on my living space.
1) Bought a reed diffuser in ocean scent
2) Above my bed I have put a small calendar with tropical beach views
3) I went to the fabric shop and found a durable material to line the shelves of the bathroom cabinet
I’ve noticed the difference immediately :) By putting care into these small areas, it changed my attitude to the space.
One of the tasks on my list of 10 will be a big one- repainting my bedroom. I had one colour in mind which I’ve decided against. Tomorrow I’m back to the hardware shop to get a sample tin in the other colour I’m now thinking about.
Another thing I can’t ignore is my overwhelming amount of clothes and lack of storage for them.
I’m enjoying working on this goal and will also enjoy great satisfaction when it’s complete!
:)
