go green

not because I think I’ve completed this goal for good, but looking more at specific quantifiable environmental goals. My next environmental goal is to plant a tree :)

I try to remember to turn off the power outlet when I am not using it, but it should be unplugged all together when not in use. To save energy and money! Every little bit adds up

I booked a flight the other day, and was offered the option to pay a small amount extra for carbon offset. I’ve been feeling good ever since I checked that box :) It wasn’t a lot of money, and the conscious decision to do something green got me all excited. I’ll seek out these sorts of things more often.
I was shopping for a small tray and found one I liked, made from bamboo. I’ll enjoy using it for a long time to come, but when I no longer require it, I don’t have to worry about it becoming landfill if it doesn’t find another home. If it is returned to the earth it will break down after some months. Also have a couple of items of bamboo clothing. Soft like cotton, and they breathe well. These items also can be returned to the earth to biodegrade.
With Christmas not so far away, I’ll look at green and locally made gifts. I’m also a big fan of buying preloved treasures. Scored a cool pair of heels at the vintage stall at the fair the other day.
It’s empowering to use my shopping dollars in greener ways :)

After my recent holiday, felt like a good time to do a spring clean. Discovered I had big plastic bag collection happening. Not cool! As well as the plastic bags, have accumulated a lot of the cloth bags that some shops hand out instead. I’ve given a whole pile to the charity shop to use, and will try to make an effort to say no to plastic bags and actually bring those cloth bags back to the shop for reuse
