Well, I’ve found out something about myself a few weeks ago. First of all, I read at a moderate pace. Not overly fast, but not exactly slow. One time I was reading my textbook and I wanted to get through it quickly so I read faster than normal (you know, not exactly ‘reading’ the words but glancing over them) and I found I could still keep up and knew what I was reading. I guess I could do that all the time when I’m reading. However, I prefer a more moderate pace where I take my time and I don’t rush it, especially if it’s a novel of interest. At least I know I can read fast if it’s a boring textbook ;) This is definitely something I should concentrate on doing however. I did try Readingsoft’s homepage as CannedMan suggested and I got 313 WPM and 82% comprehension. Pretty good (although, I’ll admit, I went slightly faster than normal).
