I’ve signed up again for the season, and I still love the classes. It feels so good to stretch. Haven’t had much time to practise between classes, but heck, I’m still doing it regularly and wouldn’t miss a class.

of the season was fab. We did some chanting and visualisation meditation on the chakras as well as a traditional class. It was just heavenly. Can’t wait for the new year’s classes to begin.
We were doing the Suryanamaskar(?)Salute to the Sun this week. A potentially fabulous practice designed to exercise the whole body restoring it to its ideal weight if one is a little plump! :O) According to the teacher, this is the only asana one need do to keep the body fit and healthy. Some very advanced practitioners do only this, carrying it out very slowly to warm up, then at some speed, and then slowly again to cool down. My goodness, only four rounds and I nearly keeled over. I can see the potential in it though, and I enjoyed the stretching. I love my yoga class.

Went back to my class tonight after the Halloween break. My body so needed the stretching. We did some “inverted” positions. One was in preparation for doing shoulder stands/headstands, which was just lying with your feet and legs up the wall and relaxing. Apparently this is to compensate for all the time we spend upright and gives all our organs a rest. It was fab! I felt so refreshed and awake after doing this. The teacher said that lying with feet and legs up against the wall, and eventually after practise, the shoulder stand really helped her when she was suffering from ME many years ago. She chose yoga as a way to help her get better. It made the difference between getting up, washing and dressing and then having to go back to bed with exhaustion, and being able to get up, wash, dress and stay up and about until lunchtime. Apparently it is a powerful exercise for reenergising and is also an anti ageing exercise. And you can do it for as long or as short a time as you like. I’ll have more of that! :O)
I just went back to a yoga class tonight having not practised for a few years. It was the best thing ever. My poor body had been crying out to be stretched and even just noticed by me!! I’ve been dead from the neck down for a few years now it would seem and I’ve woken up. I want to get fitter, lose weight and improve my flexibility, and yoga is the way!! I will sleep like a top tonight. Have that luvly mellow feeling. Bliss!!
