Things are going bad here.
My Captain called today. Since I don’t have him saved in my phone, I answered and he’s like, “Hello Miss Blaaahh this is Captain Dodson” and because I am SUCH an expert at communicating with COs, I was like, “Hiiiiiiii…..”
bahahahahaha.
“Did I tell you you can move in today?”
“Noooooooo…...”
“Oh. Well. Yeah, I got it approved through ResLife”
“Oh, okay. Well I’m like 300 miles away.”
UGH. I was just going to shackle up in Rapid City late tonight, but with the way things are I’m almost considering putting off the move until tomorrow since our Zero Week activities don’t start until 6:00 PM. Zero Week is LAME this year! We older cadets are lucky enough to see a timeline of events…wish I had that when I was a scared little girl last year. I think we must be running low on funding… It’s not even remotely challenging.
If I wait until tomorrow things will be incredibly busy :\ Maybe too busy. Dilemma.
On the plus side, I’m probably at least half done…mmm, avoidance…
Dear God.
I decided since I’m less than 48 hours out I should probably start this packing progress… last year was waaaay less taxing. omg.
I think I’m about through with the most uncomfortable and stress-inducing part…clothing. My closet was overflowing—some of the stuff in the back was so smashed in there it was wrinkled. Originally my technique was, “take what you want then examine what you’re leaving behind…and get rid of it!”
So what do I do?? I pack almost all of it. AHHHHHHH. It’s funny how people work against themselves the way they do. So now I have a NEW technique. I’m gonna do the hanger test #3 and whatever doesn’t pass isn’t coming home from college.
I also have a huge box full of pants, pajamas, jackets…
and I still need to take care of an overflowing hamper tomorrow.
MY ROOMMATE IS GOING TO HATE ME OMG.
Additionally, I discovered about ten articles that still had tags on them ._. I tried all of the stuff on… I’m going to see what my boyfriend thinks and go from there. I think I finally figured out how to wear one of the shirts, though!! Off the shoulders, over the butt… with leggings… hmmm… I think that’s how it’s supposed to be worn.
This was so stressful ): And I’m not quite done.
Also, major suckage but I forgot to get my Class A’s dry-cleaned and I don’t think there’s time to do it before I leave now ):
Edit: I am proud to say though, after much deliberation, I finally decided to put my first ever piece of Hard Rock memorabilia in the to-go box. It was a very lovely brown jacket with beautiful stitching ):
Unfortunately, this means I’ll be moving out about four days earlier than expected.
Work, work, work!
I’m starting to pack up the simple things—socks, underwear, jackets I’m not using this time of year… I’ll have to take a serious look at the things I’m leaving behind and ask myself, “Do I really need this stuff or can I pass it on to someone else?”
This year it is very important that I take as little as possible with me to college. My roommate this year is a Japanese foreign exchange student, so I feel like it’s my job to make a good impression on her. Additionally, the Japanese are very cultured to be neat and tidy. I am the exact opposite, lol.
Side-note, I’m on a hospital computer right now because my sister-in-law just lost ten pounds in two minutes! (She gave birth) but we’ve been sitting in the waiting room for about an hour…
“This is your new brother. You will no longer be the center of attention. You can cry about it later when you realize we’re bringing this thing home with us”
I think I’ve had this plastic zebra bag for almost a year now. I got it from a locally-owned Main Street store. I always thought I’d use it for something special.
After all this time the zebra bag has finally found its true calling.
As a trash bag.
:)
Otherwise I’ve been busy as hell mapping out official days&stays for my road trip, and I DEFINITELY think that counts as progress for this goal, albeit a different kind of progress than I’m used too.
Two pairs of dirty socks
A bobby pin
A hair tie
A brush
a headband
one tampon
five lip balms
five pencils
spare keys
a lint roller
five pens and pieces of the sixth
A wallet with a checkbook
a loose checkbook
Listerine strips
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
oil-absorbing wipes
lotion
shampoo
conditioner
soap
mascara
a used oil-absorbing wipe.
Six pens but one tampon?! WTF, over??
The nice thing about college is that one kind of learns to live without…stuff…
Well okay. That’s true for most people. I actually developed a shopping addiction, but more on that another time…
So I lived without the majority of my “stuff” for about eight months. Upon moving back home, I thought to myself, “This will be easy-peasy! I’ll just throw out the majority of the stuff I left at home before I even move my college stuff in. TOTALLY simple!”
...No. Didn’t work that way. But I’m trying, damnit.
Guest over on Wednesday? It’s a motivator.
I am such a silly girl :)
I thought college would solve all my organization problems. Instead, it has created a bit of an, “I’m going to clean today!” followed by an, “I’m sorry I’m so messy, Rosie” comment to my roommate…
...like every other day.
Man, I’ve been so stressed lately. It’s hard not to just walk in, throw my stuff down, and run off to another class, task, or work.
I was gonna clean from 12-2:30 today, but I remembered I had a 1:00 class—crap!
Maaan. I’ll do it. Eventually.
I’ve been avoiding this goal like the plague. June was a good month for this… July, not so much.
I’m having problems with my art supplies. I have so many that I store in little shoe boxes. It’s cute, but it’s not very space-efficient. I’m trying to get into a “compression” mode for college dorm life. Maybe I should get rid of my duplicate colors…
God, my problems are so first-world.
...and noooow we’re back to not being able to post pictures again. Great :(

My mom did not pay the cellphone bill because “the table is such a fucking mess that [she] can’t spread out.”
And why is the table a mess? Because SOMEONE’s idea of clean is moving all the mess from one place to another.
I don’t think this has EVER happened in our family’s history… not paying a bill to the point where services provided are retracted.
Isn’t there a point in one’s life where they stop procrastinating? What the hell, people. Get your shit together.
If you knew the full circle, you’d know why i’m complaining… It’s not just the mess… it’s my parents’ lack of motivation to fulfill their adult responsibilities.
