Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

For Sale

I downloaded an App called “Vinted” a few weeks ago with the intention of trying to clean out my closet and make some money off my clothes and accessories. I started with jewelry tonight and managed to find 34 pieces to list for sale. Hopefully something sells! If not they’ll get donated in the end, but it can’t hurt to try. Sometime in the next week I hope to do clothes and shoes.

Oh, and I have a few piles of other household items set aside and ready to go to Goodwill. That task is definitely on the to do list for the next week.

The never ending goal?

I took two more boxes of clothing and “stuff” to Goodwill this week and donated them. I feel like no matter how much stuff I get rid of I could still be parting with more. I might need to set aside a day to do one big purge of the entire apartment.

I’m doing some rearranging in my apartment and it is beginning to seem impossible to find places for things. I don’t think my apartment is too small so that must mean I have too much stuff. I think I’ve gotten pretty good at letting go of things I don’t need, but there must be more that can go because I can’t possibly be that attached to this much stuff. Time to get serious about letting go!

Goodbye clutter!

I just removed two more small boxes of junk from my house. Woohoo! Even better than that, we cleaned out our storage room at the dance studio and we have Salvation Army coming to pick up more than 10 boxes of stuff this week. I love getting rid of clutter!!

Pre-Move Closet Purge

As I started packing up clothes and shoes I went through my closet piece by piece to get rid of things I don’t wear anymore. I got rid of 8 pairs of shoes, either garbage if they were old and worn out or set aside for donation. I also pulled out three good size piles of clothes for donation/resale.

Moving Again

I’ll be moving again on August 1st, looking forward to another round of cleaning and picking out items for donation. I’m really hoping to condense a lot with this next move.

Closet Clean Out

I did a closet clean out to kick off the new year and took two bags of clothes to Goodwill. Less clutter for me, more clothes for others!

All Moved In

I’m moved into my new apartment now and in the process of moving I managed to donate quite a bit or throw out anything that couldn’t be donated. I think I downsized quite a bit and I’m hoping to get rid of more as I unpack in my new place.

Made a drop-off at Goodwill today! It felt good to get some more clutter out of my life. Starting a new donation pile while I continue to pack for my move in a few weeks.

For some reason I had started to collect issues of magazines that I thought were worth saving but I went through them again today and threw out almost all of them. Now I’m down to one small magazine file and there is a huge stack in the recycling bin. Feels good to purge!
