...So, I’ve found another artist I enjoy. It’s a band, fronted by a girl. Marie Mai. Rather than a eclectic sound like Amelie les Crayons, Marie Mai is more rockish sounding. She’s got her ballads, I guess I could compare her a bit to Evanescence.

haha, not really, but i’ve been listening to a lot of french music lately, so much so that i can’t remember the last time i listened to the radio or american cds. it’s been straight french artists for many many moons. but it’s been instrumental in helping fine tune my ear as far as listening, and helping me train my brain to listen to it in french and not translate in english but to trust that i know the word or don’t know the word (and if i don’t know it try to find it later). i really enjoy the artist Camille and her album Le Fil. i also really like Loane and the Jamais Seule album.
i get so excited when i catch a phrase in a song that i know. i just need to learn a lot more vocab now, and a lot more practical vocab, too, like news stuff and current events, etc. i think the web is most useful for that… off i go! :D
I think I have a good grasp on vocabulary but that all means nothing if the structure of my phrases isn’t right. I must practice where I put pronouns and both direct/indirect articles. I think that will be something I ask to focus on at the french Meetup.
Je dois commencer un journal en francais. Je pense qu’il serait utile pour moi d’écrire plus. Mais, je pense qu’il faut que j’écris avec un stylo et du papier.
ok, so i finally updated my itunes to itunes 8 and they finally have some french songs i had been wanting to get for a long time now! i’m stoked. so stoked in fact that that’s what i spent my sunday doing: downloading music, burning CDs, and organizing MP3s. i got nothing productive done but i resolve to do those things today. and while i do them, i will be listening to emily loizeau, loane, yelle, and many more! :D the music is really helping fine tune my ear!
So I’ve gotten really into French film and French music. They’re really helping me hear the words without translating in my head. Le Diner du Cons & Angela are two of my favorite movies. Emily Loizeau is one of my favorite singers. I think more teachers should incorporate music into their instruction of languages, even if it’s just learning childrens’s songs or French holiday songs…
also, for those interested in learning french, or any other language for that matter… itunes has free (yes, totally free) podcasts in the educational category for learning languages! hope that helps everyone!
i joined a band, in which they want me to sing a few songs in french – even translate some american classics, like beatles songs, into french. this is going to help me improve so much!
right now, i’ve learned the song “Je suis jalouse” by Emily Loizeau… cute song! so much fun to sing! i love singing in french!
j’ai trouve un group avec qui je peux practiquer parlant en francais! je l’ai trouve sur le website www.meetup.com. nous nous rendezvous chaque semain et parlons en francais!
