...she was very happy :D
we talked for a long while. she is getting hard of hearing, but we managed. she told me of how she had a friend over the night before and she cooked fish for them, of how her cancer treatment is going and her visits with all the other doctors… she says she has many ‘dates’ with young men (doctors ; )

She was the same squishy grandma : D
She had lovely hair… but her daughter (my aunti) said that she looked as though she’d been sleeping on her face… which I thought was a terrible insult and totally gauche.
She doled out my allotted number of Christmas Cookies and presented them to me in a sandwich baggie that had my name written on it.
And presented me with a Christmas Card that had the expected taped in cheque totaling – SHOCK – more than my age in funds… (perhaps she is upping the anti because of hitting 90).
All in all. She is wonderful. She reminds me of kindness and self sacrifice. She reminds me of frugality driven beyond the max. She reminds me that I am prayed for daily. ((((((sigh))))))
My granny has be pining for me, I just know it. Apparently, she has been talking all the rest of my relatives’ ears off saying that she wants to see me again when I come to town. So she is taking the bus up early just to visit with me for 1/2 a day ; ) I’m glad I’m sticking around this hell-hole long enough to see her. I have a sad feeling that her 90 year old body won’t take well to the chemotherapy this spring… why they would put her body through that… I have no idea.
Mailed her 3 cards from Europe.
I know people always want to “see you”, to “hear your voice”, but the tactile act of writing comes so much easier to me… and it brings me JOY. I hope those cards make her smile anyways.
