Get rid of stuff

So last night, we get a knock on the door. It’s three kids looking for donations of goods for a local church. I asked if they wanted dishes, and they said they’d take anything they could get. I went and got my Goodwill box I’ve been meaning to drop off somewhere for the last month or two. They seemed pretty happy to take it.

One less box of stuff to get rid of!

I move a lot. I also have WAY too much ‘just in case’ stuff that i keep around for no good reason. Who needs a vcr that hasn’t worked in 2 years? Or magazines from the last 6 years that I didn’t throw away just because I may want to reread some of the articles? Or obsolete computer stuff I’ve replaced over the years?

I miss the times all it took to move was to sling a bag over my shoulder and get on the bus. I don’t necessarily want to go back that far (I’ve found I kind of need my vacuum cleaner), but I do want to make moving easier. Like my heavy-duty odds-and-ends dishes, I’ve been meaning to replace with lightweight, low-profile, easy-stacking, unbreakable plastic ones. It might cost a bit to replace, but packing and shipping costs quite a bit for the glass ones.

I’m going to pick out what I can live without, eBay what I can, and donate what I can’t.

Sitting on my end table right now is a heatsink for an AMD Duron 600 processor, whose motherboard fried almost 4 years ago. Why? WHY?!? To the eBay box!
