This is becoming very interesting...

... everywhere… I’m hearing that voice. “Be the change, Sky.” Even with the simplest of things… being who I want to see around me… courteous of others… helpful… kind even when I feel wronged… I can still control how I react… it’s nice to have this in the forefront of my mind now… always! the echoing voice in my head looking at my every action : ) in a good way!

Food Drive

I need to plan this out step by step so I can envision it:

1) Call Food Bank of NJ and let them know I want to do this with a goal delivery date of December 13th or 20th.

2) Bring flyers to clients/accounts I call on and recruit these offices to help donate.

3) Assign each office/account a pick up date.

4) Pick up and deliver.

So obviously, my first step is to contact them.

I looked up their info:
908-355-FOOD (3663) and ask for Food Sourcing

A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed.

Taking good care of myself.

If we all take really good care of ourselves… of our hearts and spirits and minds and bodies, we are so better equipped to be the changes we want to see in the world….

I want to see peace:
If I get a good night’s sleep and am well rested, I am so much more peaceful in my manner.

I want to see happiness:
When I accomplish some of my goals, like for instance working out, it gives me a sense of accomplishment and I physically feel well…. this makes me have a more generous spirit out in the world.

I want to see forgiveness and compassion:
When I am gentle with myself and forgiving of my own faults and character defects, I am much more compassionate to others who are struggling like me.

I’m going to keep carrying this with me as I go throughout my day so I can be whole and centered and can focus the extra energies towards the food drive I will be doing in December.

Is being the change you want to see in the world contagious!!??

I donated about 16 bags of groceries yesterday for the Food Bank . Usually there is a box with dozen items in it at most. One of my neighbors saw me unloading and said “Did you donate all that? That’s really cool.”

Today when I got back from errands, I saw another 10 bags of groceries down in the lobby!!!! I wondered if it was him? Did he catch the vibe?! : )

I think I get it now… I think being the change is really fun!!

Trying to be the change.

My neighbor is holding a food drive and put a flyer in the lobby to collect the canned/dried goods. this morning before I left, I went through my closets and gathered some soups, beans, rice, tuna etc and donated them this morning.

I’m thinking about holding a food drive myself. I have tons of offices/clients that I visit. If I make up a flyer asking them if they want to donate some canned goods etc, bring them to work on a particular day, I’ll come and pick them up and deliver them to the food bank.

Why not, right? Everyone can find a few things in their cabinets to share : )

Tough one....

I am in sales. Today I was in a pretty tough neighborhood. I walked across the parking lot towards the building of my client and found 20 bucks… then another… another … another… $80. someone lost it. I picked it up. Looked around. No one in sight. I could use $80 bucks. But then I thought…. what if this is someone’s grocery money. Or money for medication?? Or for their rent?? Who knows??

I went into the security guard and I told him I found money. And he said “Well, finder’s keepers. It’s yours now.” I told him I’d be at my appointment for about an hour and that if someone came in looking for money to let me know. I told him I’d stop back before I left.

I came back and he told me no one came. “You were blessed today”... so I decided to pay it forward. I sure could use $80.00 but instead I am going to buy $80 worth of food for the local food bank and deliver it this weekend.

I’ve been wanting to do something good for the world and for my fellow man, but $ is tight right now… well… here is my opportunity. I’m sad for the person who lost the money but at least it will go to someone or a family who can’t afford a meal.
