Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Keep it in perspective and enjoy the journey : )

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a today I will but I REALLY need a little perspective here today since I feel EXTREMELY overwhelmed!!

I have a charity event tonight I’m organizing and performing in. I’m leaving for vacation in 36 hours. I have to close up business for my job for the year before I leave. I have a holiday party tomorrow night…. so needless to say I am feeling slightly overwhelmed.

If there is anything I have learn over the years of my life it is this: Life is about the journey not the end points only. The endpoints and successes are only small blips between all the time spent preparing and creating and making happen. So you HAVE to enjoy the journey. Right now the journey is giving me anxiety, heartburn and a headache… lol …. I need to recreate this journey… I have all of the tools to do so…

So today I will… keep it in perspective… and enjoy the journey…


1) Make a list of to dos
2) Prioritize them by day Today, Sat, Sun
3) Meditate and envision myself relaxed, calm and involved in smooth outcomes and events
4) Take a one hour walk to clear my mind
5) Remember how big the earth is… and how big the sun is… and how big the solar system is… and how big other solar systems sun’s are… .... in other words… keep it in perspective : )

Do the next right thing.

This concept sounds so simple. Do the next right thing. Just right now, as I make a choice, I decide to do the next right thing… just thinking about the next decision… not all of them today…. just the next one…. what will I eat? When will I leave? Where will I go? So if I know my intentions and I know the objective I want to accomplish, the person I want to be, the goals I want to achieve… and if I choose to do … the next right thing…. well wouldn’t I just achieve all that I want?! Wow…. such a simple idea with such a grand outcome….

It seems overwhelming sometimes to think about saving money, or weight loss, or deciding how to spend your time wisely…. but if you are truly in tune with your goals, dreams, desires, wants and even the basic daily habits you want to create or break, this simple statement is so helpful at each decision making crossroad … I will do the next right thing…

So today, as I reflect this morning on what I want to accomplish today, and on how I want to live my life, and on how I want to love those around me…

Get prepared

I like to have an organized week so I know what I’m doing, what I need, when I need it. Today, I will enjoy my day and be in the moment, but tonight, get er done!!!!


I don’t have to take care of many responsibilities today…. I just need to hang out and chill… I LIKE that. So today, I’m going to complete immerse myself in this… not worrying about tomorrow or monday and will enjoy this … go with the flow… Today I will… Float.

Stop... Drop .... and Roll.

I’ve been moody…. likely a hormonally induced shifting… frustrated and irritated for no real good reason… Not shifting out of the mood and entertaining it is doing no good… in fact… it’s causing more harm I’m sure as it’s likely prolonging it’s length and increasing it’s staying power. So today… when I’m feeling the full swing grouch on, I’m going to act like there’s a fire and PUT THAT THING OUT! Whatever it takes… likely a good kick in the gratitude pants would do just fine!!

Today… I will stop… drop… and roll….

Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero

I’ve only know the expression Carpe diem… Seize the day…. there’s more…. “Seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the future.”

That’s today for me in a nut shell. I want to really BE in every single moment today as much as possible….

Soooooo….. today I will seize the day … knowing that tomorrow is no guarantee but right here and now IS!

I know it’s a Wiki article but nonetheless… The idea of seize the day dates back to antiquity… and crosses religious boarders… check it out….

There is nothing worse that being behind on things… especially work. I can’t stand the feeling of needing to catch up and the anxiety that goes along with being late and the overwhelming feelings of when am I going to get it all done?! ...because once behind, it’s the current stuff and the old stuff that all needs to get DONE! Ahhhh!! So instead…. today I will…

....stay ahead… avoid procrastination or time wasters so I can fully enjoy my down time with a free mind and a clear head : )

Enjoy each moment as it brings me closer to my treat for myself : )

I scheduled a facial for myself tonight… cause I need one and I’ve been neglecting my skin…. it’s so relaxing and I’ve been neglecting my need to relax too…. sooooo…. today, as I work and do all the mundane tasks leading up to five o’clock, I will remember to enjoy and appreciate each moment with my job because the income is helping me treat myself this evening : )

Stay on Point

I have some pretty good motivation to “get er done” when I have a reason to … for example… if I get all of my work done today, I can go to the movies tonight with my BF : )

So while keeping my focus…

today… I will stay on point…

and get everything done with the underlying motivator that I get to spend some lovely time with a VERY lovely man this evening.
