Something that helps the homeless

I have never worked with the homeless. But I do visit a nursing home filled with mental illness patients. I see the correlation. Somehow I would like to create an organization for both sets of people. Somehow.
Strange thing is I would like my non-profit to encourage artistic expression, independence and self-esteem. Because quite frankly, if I cannot give them a safe warm loving home, I would like to give them a place where they can feel good.
Artistic expression is allowing your spirit freedom, it helps the self-esteem to create beauty and bring what is inside us, out into this realm. It also gives them a sense of independence, because they can create whatever they choose.
Somehow, one day I can figure it out.
