One of the reasons I went to university was to expand my knowledge and be better read. Hmm. I’m become well read in history, my subject. But there’s no time to read anything else!! My plan is to read one chapter a day from books that aren’t part of any of my reading lists – novels, autobiographies, that sort of thing.
So yesterday, full of determination, I go into Waterstones to buy ‘a book’. It felt a little like a guilty pleasure, especially as it was the store on campus. The book I got – The Secret History of Georgian London by Dan Cruikshank. Well, it isn’t on any of my reading lists, so it’s a start I guess….
