Running has always been a big part of my life. It was one of the things people knew me for. I was always that guy people see running around town. I did track and cross country from junior high through college. I only stopped my junior year in college because of the demanding schedule and balance between school and cross country.
I thought I was always pretty decent. I wasn’t always the best but I certainly wasn’t one of the worst. Of course I did tend to like to run to the front of the pack at the beginning for that ever glamorous shot in the newspaper. I always thought it was funny even if the coach didn’t agree. Running was something I did just for the pure thrill of it. It was sort of expected of me in a way.
Running was one of those activities that I felt I excelled in so I continued with it. It’s one of the few things I really dedicated myself to even those days where I really hated myself for deciding to run that day. I’m glad for every minute of it. I haven’t had the chance to run now for a couple years but now I want to get back into it. They say distance runners don’t reach their peak until late 20’s or early 30’s so I’m still good on that end.
I intend to get back in shape and run at least one marathon if not more in my lifetime.
