The plan is, when I’m out in Thailand, I’m going to take classes and finally finally get to where I can hold a conversation in Thai :) Looking forward to it!

My mother comes from Thailand, so it’s her language and the language of her family, and it pains me that I can’t speak it. When I was little she made the decision not to teach me her language because she wanted me to speak unaccented English, which I would have had anyway, but she didn’t know that I guess.
So anyway, I want to learn it now. I’ve been back and forth from Thailand a lot during my life but luckily most people there speak some degree of English so it’s always been too easy not to learn. Even when I went there to teach a couple summers ago, I got by with only the very basic knowledge of the language.
I’ve looked into various methods of learning – I have the book and tapes but I never make time to listen and learn; my university unfortunately doesn’t offer any courses (though I was considering taking up Japanese); and the only course I can find in Birmingham is at a local Buddhist temple – which actually seems like a very cool way of learning but I won’t be in Birmingham long enough to make use of it.
So here’s to learning in London, when/if I get there.. but it’s good to have the goal written down anyway.
