more Chili  — 5 months ago

Apparently its my winter thing. This time with nice ground beef, and two kinds of kidney beans, diced up tomatos, as well as sauce. Unfortunately forgot to buy Onion, so I’m out of luck there. The best thing is I can actually smell it, which means things are looking up. Did remember Sour cream and cheddar, so am very excited to have a real meal…

Chili  — 6 months ago

Finally just barged into the kitchen and made some chili. My Mom was beside herself trying to direct it. She became upset when I added onions, and some spices….because it isn’t like how she makes it. Lately though her cooking has been horrendous. I still love her, but I can’t eat!!! I used a ton of leftovers, so it may not be as good as it could be but, its sitting int he crock pot now. Lets hope it pleases everyone.

Opinions please  — 8 months ago

Can one serve a pumpkin tart at a Christmas dinner? Or is it passe after thanksgiving????

crock pot yet again  — 8 months ago

I’m getting to be the crock pot queen…

chicken rubbed with sage, simmering in the mushroom soup with cabbage (cause cabbage is healthy!!!)

It isn’t the most creative, but it should be fairly tasty.
I need to maybe get a bit more sophisticated.

Hoooray for the Crock Pot  — 9 months ago

I got cabbage, lean beef, tomatos, carrots, corn, yellow squash, and a nice onion today and I will soon slice it all up, combine it with salt, sage and garlic and let the crock pot do the cooking.
So much better for me than a meal in a box…
Last time I forgot the Cabbage which is the main ingredient, so I am very excited….I may even throw in the tyrannical spice…the bay leaf.

Had no idea this was still  — 9 months ago

even on my list.
I recovered my crock pot between assignments, and made myself a very interesting stew…
turkey burger
carrots
chicken stock
potatos
sage
2 bay leaves
turnip greens
beans.

It’s very very yummy.

Lasange  — 1 year ago

times 2. I made lasagne for Plant man on Saturday….I didn’t cook it long enough, so the pasta was very al dente, who knew.
He was nice about it.

So I made it again today just for me. It’s good. sweet italian sausage….yum. I also added spinach as I think every thing should have veggies in it…
Nice salad. I skipped the garlic bread though.

Anyone have a good  — 1 year ago

Lasagne recipe?? I am making it this weekend and I want it to be lovely. I have some decent recipes, but I want a really awesome one. :)

late note  — 1 year ago

when I wrote this entry, I really meant to start trying new recipies and the like, and not rely so much on the meal in a box.
However, since my hand injury, chopping, dicing, and slicing has been next to impossible and sort of dangerous.

i did however, pull out an old favorite.

Chicken breast, loaded with Campbell’s reduced salt mushroom soup.

it was incredibly tasty after weeks of meals from a box.

I have to say, it isn’t gourmet, but it has potential!

beef....  — 1 year ago

So I spent about an hour chopping mostly root veggies and throwing them in the crock pot.

2 bok choys
4 carrots
5 stalks of celery
some corn
some tomatos
one can of beef broth and a can of Campbells Beefy Mushroom soup
a cup of barley
and a pound of hamburger mixed with sage.

It’s in the crock pot now. cooking away. I don’t expect it to be ready by tonight, but I hope I can have some for lunch.
