fulfill another long time dream and by a summer house – a dream I share with my partner.
We like living in the center of town, and because it’s rather expensive, I know we will probably never have a large appartement – even if and when we get children – and may never own our own place. What we dream of instead is a house in the country, by a lake, not too far from the city. A piece of land we could call our own, a place to breath and have space around us. Somewhere to write and think and enjoy simple quiet pleasures like sitting in a warm patch of sun or swimming in cool water or listening the rain pour on the roof while having tea by the fire.
This would not be just a place for solitude, though. My partner and I both dream of making our country house an always-open guest house for friends to come and stay all year round. It would be a place where one could enjoy quiet moments of absolute privacy but also good company. That would go for our guests as well as for our selves. There would be no pressure to socialize or do anything else for that matter (especially to work on the premises, god forbid) but talks until late at night and games and play would be warmly welcomed.
I see beautiful and individually decorated rooms, a small garden I could work in (and on), lazy summer days with fabulous food and wine, long languid evenings, lots of laughing and talking and loving and living.
