save 6 months of living expenses

When we moved back to the States from Japan, my very frugal fiance and I had saved up close to $30,000. Then we had the baby, and then we had to get my fiance—>husband a green card, and then we couldn’t find jobs for a long while. And now all that money is gone. I used to be perfectly happy living paycheck to paycheck, but not with a baby. No way. So now we need a budget and a savings plan and we need to get this back on track.
