Pat and I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment. There was barely enough room for all of my stuff, never mind all of Pat’s, as well as the stuff we’ve accumulated over the past couple years. So I must improve my organizational skills.
I’ve always thought I was pretty well organized. It was always one of my better qualities. But I’ve found that over the past few years of living on my own I’ve really been slacking. I’ve always been one to have a messy bedroom, and it quickly spreads through the whole apartment. So I try to be organized but I need to improve.
This weekend I spent a full afternoon (and evening) working on my craft space. I organized quite a bit, I was pleased. I still feel as though the coffee table behind my table could use some work, as well as my paper storage method. But all in all, it’s much better than what it started out as.
I also started tackling the baskets I have lying around. Quite a few of them hold my supplies: beads, ribbon, wire; but I also have some square baskets on my shelving that aren’t being put to good use. One I use for candles, and another for odds and ends in my bedroom, but there are 2 other main ones that aren’t being used.
I emptied one of those this weekend and filled it with all the mailing supplies I need/have: envelopes, return address labels, packing tape, tags, etc. It doesn’t fit absolutely everything it could (like an address book, though I don’t have a permanent one – I use the one that comes with my agenda, which I change each year – or really large envelopes) but it’s perfect for my everyday needs. I’m thinking of using the matching basket on the same set of shelves for bubble wrap, since I have so much lying around. But that seems like a bit of a waste…
Other than that, I have a few set of drawers and shelves I want to tackle and rearrange and organize. I also have a lot of knick knacks and photographs that could use some re-placing. Things to do for this weekend…
