learn to crochet

This might turn into “seriously try to learn how to knit”, because crocheting is SO HARD. I tried for a good 3 hours last night and I just can’t get the feel of it. I pulled out my knitting bag from when I was trying to learn how to knit and I actually made more progress than I had though – I made a little patch last time I tried. A friend of mine just came in and told me I should get big needles and start off with those when I try knitting again, so – that’s what I’ll do! My mom knits and has all sorts of needles and could probably help me if I asked her. Anywho, I’m not giving up on crocheting, but it is definitely much harder than I had thought.

SO, today on my lunch hour I went to Michaels. I got a snazzy crocheting hook in a pretty moss green color and some awesome yarn in a gorgeous teal. I have no idea what I’m going to crochet, nor do I know how to yet, but I’m going to go home tonight and try to learn (via the internet and a book from the library). I’m so excited!! Maybe before the winter is over I’ll be able to make a blanket =D

And since I don’t have a sewing machine yet, I’m figuring I’ll give crocheting a try. I tried knitting a scarf a couple years ago and just couldn’t get the hang of it, so maybe I’ll be good at crocheting. My ultimate goal is to crochet afghan blankets to give as gifts next Christmas. Maybe I’ll start off with potholders though.
