Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Marking this one off as "done"

Not because I’m done going on adventures, but because my adventures can fall just as easily into “post randomly”.

If you're goin' to San Franciscoooo!

Went to the ocean yesterday with my old boyfriend. We dated for the better part of 4 years about 2 years ago. Or something like that. It was a long time. A hard time. We had an awful breakup and our relationship was, on numerous occasions, compared to “running into a (brick) wall”. But that’s all over. Yesterday we went to the ocean. He was kind, he was attentive, he was sweet. Nothing like the man I had dated before. But, we’ve both moved forward in our lives. He lives hundreds of miles away now, and I am in the beginning stages of one of the best relationships I’ve ever been in. “Perhaps in another life, when we are both cats”... The ocean was so beautiful. We’ve seen it so many times together, but it never gets old. One New Years Eve we spent our midnight out on a rock that jetted into the sea. It was amazing. He took me to the ocean for my birthday once, too. It seems now-a-days that our friendship iteself is one big adventure. Just keeping alive the energy between us… And going places, seeing things… Our adventures never get old. I will never lose that big place in my heart for him. I hope he never loses that place in his heart for me. I hope our adventures last the rest of, at least, this life.

Something I never wrote about...

The Adventure of June 13th
He messaged me on a dating site, asking about local laws regarding something I know about. I didn’t think he was romantically interested in me, but answered him and asked him some questions in response. I learned that he was new to the state and lived 8 blocks from me. We exchanged phone numbers, but I didn’t think too much of it. Then I asked him if he wanted to meet for dessert (i was craving dessert and who the heck wants to eat that alone!). So we met up at a diner between our houses. I had banana cream pie, he had New York Cheesecake. Mine was delicious, he was disappointed. Afterward, we walked. And walked and walked. Walked around my favorite park, stared up at the stars together. Listened to music on our iPhones and talked about killing park ducks if they happened to attack us. We went back to his house to hang out and didn’t go to sleep til the wee hours of the morning. When I left in the morning I got a text saying “Miss you” about halfway home. I had never met someone from a dating site SO quickly, but, I’m glad I did.

Time with my favorite momma-to-be!

I got to spend the entire day with my favorite momma-to-be yesterday!! Since she got preggers we haven’t had any one-on-one time, muchless an entire day of it. We ate all sorts of good food and went to two amazing art shows. We talked for hour after hour after hour. I’m so happy to have her in my life and so happy we got to catch up yesterday. Adventures with her are always the best.

I love it when friends move closer!

One of my favorite friends is staying less than 2 miles from where I work and about 4 miles from where I live. I am SO happy to have her (and very shortly, her family too!) so darn close!! We spent the weekend together going to parks and concerts and festivals, it was awesome. Hopefully we’ll be doing much of the same this upcoming weekend :-)

Me & the boy's recent adventures...

Last week we went to the river. Waded in the water and kissed like teenagers.
Last night we stared at the stars through telescopes so big ladders had to be climbed.

He is quite fun to have adventures with. Plus, he’s very nice to look at while adventuring ;-)
