learn uzbek

I’ve been doing way too much temping. But I have a little set of flashcards I take out of my pocket when I can, and I memorize words and phrases, and compose new sentences. I haven’t forgotten everything.

If I can find an Uzbek penpal, that would help with the other goal too. A while ago I did look around at some sites, and there was some lady in Tashkent, Russian lady but still! looking for what appeared to be actual penpals and not husbands, but I was too shy to just go ahead and figure out how to, you know, get started writing to the person.

Because I’m not really sure how to start. I don’t know how to talk OR write to people one on one, very well. How was I ever married, or able to date people for months on end? I find public speaking easy and comfortable. But I’m terrified of small informal gatherings, and I’ve hardly ever had any of the kind of friends you can just ..go hang out with, or call without a good reason. I’ve heard that this kind of relationship is considered a staple of female existence, and I don’t know what it would even be like. And I’m a woman, by the way, just to clear that up.

I finally started listening to my tapes again last night, and was surprised at how much I remember!
