I’m trying to help my kids see that they can be there for family and friends in their times of sadness and loss. Just being there helps so much – and sharing a hug or a few moments over a lunch can really lift the spirits. A phone call to Grandma every week now that her husband of 50 years is gone. An email or text message to their aunt who just finished a divorce. A hug to mom (me) after my good friend died.
Small things mean so much and I want to give them a grounding in this.
