I got an email from a woman a few years ago, she knew me from volunteer work I was doing on RAOGK, Random acts of genealogical kindness. She noted that she had just purchased some diaries from a used book store, and had noticed the name and thought it might be a relative of mine.
It was – some my grandmother’s, some my aunt’s. Both did their morning devotions religiously, reading from the Bible, praying, and noting down what happened the day before.
She sent me the diaries just for the price she paid and the postage. They are priceless – to me.
I was going to teach myself PHP and put them in a database, then I got so much work going and kept putting them off. They are here on my desk, staring at me.
I think I’ll set up a Wordpress page, that will let me set the date. Can’t put this off indefinately, not good karma!
And I promised the lady a translation, must get to that. I’ll add that to my 43 things….
