My mom went to Alaska last year and brought home some of the most amazing pictures of the northern lights. I couple years ago I was driving home from up north when I noticed lights in the sky. I knew it had to be the northern lights but I was shocked because I knew that northern illinois is no where near far enough north to be able to see them. They were beautiful but I was also kinda scared too because I didnt know what those lights in the sky could possibly be. Anyway, when I got home I turned on the news and the first story I see says that for some reason (I dont remember why) the northern lights were visiible in our area that night. What I had seen was so beautiful but it was only a tiny percent of what the actual northern lights look like from alaska. One day, I would absolutely love to see them.
