Yes, yes, yes – I suppose I write an hour a day just with e-mails but that wasn’t what I meant when selecting this goal. Need some focus, here. Haven’t started a novel, just writing from life. Actually think I need to amend this to 15 minutes a day. Just read a book “The Fifteen Second Principle” all about how the first fifteen seconds are the hardest, getting started, facing our fears. Writing is scary because of the self exposure – so much facing my own garbage, mediocrity – to get to the good stuff. Oh well – won’t pay to wait another decade or so – how much time (life) do I have, anyway? Have two pieces I need to rewrite – one won’t take long – the other is really stuck. At least found myself a couple of great local writing groups – meet-ups, actually, but the folks are serious and excellent writers.

ok, ok, mebbe an hour is too long – mebbe start very small – I’ve heard we’re really programmed to make small changes – like for weight loss – I heard one author suggest running around during one commercial for the couch potato set – such a tiny beginning, but at least it is a beginning. Mebbe strive for one paragraph a day which will undoubtedly not stop at a paragraph.
Does composing goals on this list count toward my hour? I’m getting desperate here. I mainly compose memoirs, essays – would like to expand into fiction. The hardest part is getting started – the second part is coming up with satisfactory endings, no – the second hardest (or perhaps even the hardest – haven’t accomplished it yet) is completing the final rewrite.
