i was so fortunate, on an impulsive trip to NYC back in 1985, to happen to go into the Saks 5th Avenue, and sample a wonderful perfume imported from Japan called “Murasaki”.
I did not wear perfume at the time, becasue every other perfume i’d ever smelled was ‘WAY too cloying, heavy, artifical & (to me) obnoxious
But from the first scent, i knew this perfume was mine. It was perfect for me: subtle, different, and mixed wonderfully with my body chemistry.
And twenty years since, i’ve never worn another. I’ve never tired of it. Even tho you cant buy it in this country anymore, and i have to go thru a distributor in Hawaii to import it. Even tho its hideously expensive. Even tho i use so very sparingly to make 1 bottle last me a whole year—i still love it !
Interestingly, (and all the more why it so suits me), is that the word “Murasaki” means “violet” in Japanese. And Lady Murasaki is reported to have written the very first novel in 1000 c.e.
H’mmm, a Violet Writer….yeah , that fits
:)
