Make people laugh.

Went to have coffee with my cousin today. I hadn’t seen her in about 6 months and the last time I saw her it wasn’t the best (we’re more like sisters and tend to bicker at times). So I was a little nervous about seeing her today, but to my surprise she was really upbeat and we were joking and laughing the whole time. It was nice.

One of my goals the past couple of days has been to wake up and laugh at something. So I’ve been watching a lot of George Carlin the past couple of days. I have fallen totally in love with his stand up comedy, and I can’t believe I’ve missed out on him for all this time.

Well, anyway, I brought it up to my mom this morning about watching him and she started going on about how she used to always watch him and then we just started talking about all the stand up comedians we like and my mom started reciting some of her favorite acts – as she is very animated and loves to make people laugh. It was a fun moment, and it was nice to see my mom happy.

I think at times I tend to think too much and get wrapped up in whatever – politics, work, politics at work etc etc. I really hate when I do that. Lately I’ve been trying to keep things lighter.

Life is much easier that way.

My job can be kind of stressful at times, so sometimes I have to remind myself of how lucky I am and how quickly the time is passing. I teach, and my kids are very easy to get a laugh out of. They’re a good audience :)

I’m normally pretty silly, but it can take a while for me to feel totally at ease around people I don’t know. I love being able to make people laugh – it just livens up the whole situation.
