Photography

Started reading my book on photography. Very good book, but unfortunately I’ve been so preoccupied haven’t been able to take many photos or finish the rest of it. I really want to focus more on this goal. There are so many ideas I have for good photos – places that I want to try out. Its one of my goals that I am excited about :).

My goal for this weekend is to take a lot of pictures. If they turn out good I will post them. :)

I just got my book that I ordered on digital photography a couple of days ago. I’m very excited to read it and learn as much as I can. I already have a few projects in mind. I’ve been wanting to take pictures for the last several years. Whenever I would spot something interesting, I would make a mental note of it so that I could come back to it when I finally taught myself to use a camera.

Well, it took forever, but I’m finally getting somewhere with this goal.

One time when I was researching photographers I came across this well known photographer (yes I forgot his name) in England who became famous for taking pictures of his family. He used a cheap camera, and the pictures were of a poor quality. But they were unique because they were so honest. They showed the way his family really lived, and the way that he had grown up. I remember one picture showed his dad passed out by the toliet after a long day of drinking and another showed his mom watching TV eating a microwave dinner.

So of course that inspired me to do the same. Not to copy him, but just to document my life in the same way. To show what people in my life do with their days. Today was my first try. My mom, at first, was not too happy about being photographed in her nightgown with her hair all messy, but she soon got used to it.

Someone gave me an old Nikon for Christmas last year, and I still haven’t got around to learning how to use it. So I bought myself a digital camera for the mean time. Here’s a picture I took while camping recently. Its a little fuzzy, but I guess that’s why I’m not a professional ;)

My goal is to learn to use my Nikon, while at the same time using my digital camera to run around and capture things I like. So for now – digital camera, in the future – film.
