What's your wattage? 23 months ago

Just a couple of leg weights to wake them up and then 45 minutes cycling and 30 minutes running on a treadmill today. New shoes seem to be doing their job without causing problems. Time for a longer run in a few days.

Found how to get the power output and lots of other info from the machine used for cycling. Now I have something to compare with other cyclists.

2 parts cycle, 1 part run 23 months ago

Tried a little harder cycling; shortened the run from the other day when something was triggered in one knee after the end of the run. But ran at the same pace and a bit faster. New shoes feel fine.

Finally replaced my aged running shoes 23 months ago

and worked out a little with weights, cycling and running today. Now my knee is really bothering me.

Weights 23 months ago

and 1 hr cycle today.

3000 metre swim 2 years ago

half front crawl and half breast-stroke in 69 minutes. This was while trying a new catch and pull for the front crawl stroke for the very first time based on a new triathlon training book.

Last year the breathing was switched from every 2 strokes to every 3. The next stroke improvement is to change the breathing to every 5.

Covered 1000 metres in 23 minutes; 1500m in 33 minutes. 2650 metres in one hour.

Cramped up lightly in one leg at 1300 metres and then hugely in that same leg for the final 35 metres.

Next job is to build up the endurance and use front crawl for a rising % of the distance until getting to 100%. By the time 100% is done with front crawl, total time for 3000 metres should be well within an hour.

Swim coaching is needed! 24 minutes or less is probably going to be required for my competition goals for 1500m distance before the end of next season! For 750 metres, times between 10 and 11 minutes would be a big improvement.

2000 metres 2 years ago

swim today, nice and easy. That is the length of the swim of a half-ironman race.

One goal is to work up to 3000 metres in an hour. That is double the swim distance for Olympic-distance races.

It’s been a while since my last good swim, too long. And why is it so painful around the eyes? It felt like the mask was eating my skull.

Raced in a duathlon 2 years ago

Run-cycle-run. A little different from a tri but it was the first race approaching my total racing time of this year’s sprint triathlons. It was worth doing as the total run was just less than 8 km (5 miles) which is good prep for the Olympic distance triathlon which goes 10k.

2008 is preferred for this 2 years ago

Running 10km or more about once a week; typical bike rides are 36-44 km and swim workouts are 1500-2250m. Long workouts will need to be lengthened from these.

Sprint distance will be the focus for 2007 and the first half of 2008. In late Autumn 2007, a proper buildup can start for the Olympic distance.

Cycle 40 km - check! 2 years ago

Found a fun 38 km route yesterday and then added 2 burner laps of 1 km around the block to roll over the 40 km mark.

I need to try this at least once 3 years ago

but right now prefer sprint distance. Perhaps by summer 2007 I can be trained up for this goal.
