Oh the politics of any natural disaster. Physically and mentally a mess over there. I wanted to donate some stuff I didn’t use and some snacks and kids’ toys that I had bought for my friend in Afghanistan, but he came home early, so… I was going to send the box anyway, to one of his friends, but they’ll have to wait. Right now I’m going to drop it off at a church or something. I’ll get stuff for Afghanistan later. Politics will never go away, but are we so stupid as a nation to not see what was going on here?? It just seems funny to me that the rich parts are dry and the poorer parts are flooded. (New Orleans – wise) Funny also how it took everybody so long to get food and water down there… makes you wonder if they wanted some of the “cockroach” population to die. How… political, isn’t it? Bush (I teeter between Democrat and Republican) says “unacceptable” about the help, when he’s in charge. Hilarious. Absolutely. Same thing with the gas. Who’s refineries are running? Who gets gas from who? And who’s making the money here. Also, looks like an effort to push out tiny gas stations. I wish the media would report on that, but they’re into politics, too. What do I know? I’m just a stupid girl.
Anyways. The Books for Africa donation boxes are back at my school. I have a bunch of mine that are no good (meaning the publishers push out new editions every semester where the only difference is a new cover and a few pages – again… money and politics.) I have wondered what if I would write a note inside and give my name and address; if I could find a pen pal. Maybe they won’t be able to afford postage. I don’t know. I feel stupid, but I think it would be cool. Maybe when I get a house one day, the pen pal could visit for a while or go to school here.. You never know. Just an ongoing thought. Anyways, I might not do anything, just yet. See if there are any programs first. I dunno.
.ok, so I just emailed them to ask. We’ll see.
k.
