adopt a child

Today I mailed my first installment fee to CCAI (cha-ching)... ouch! DH and I got our finger prints and filled out applications for our home study. Lots of signing, documents notarized and $$$$ out the door… but it will all be worth it in the end!!!!

CCAI has approved us! Monday we send back the agency agreement and first agency fee then begin working with the social worker…. and now the real fun begins! We are officially in the paperchase!

Woo Hoo! Last week I mailed in our first application toward the adoption to CCAI (Chinese Children Adoption International). We have been told we will be called today or tomorrow regarding our approval. In the meantime, I’m getting fresh copies of our birth certificate, marriage license, divorce decrees etc… I’ve also made a doctors appointment for my husband and I (March 3rd.. so far away) specifically for filling out all the physical requirements…. I’m so excited and nervous, I could explode!!!!

Today I printed an application from Chinese Children Adoption International. I was all excited about filling it out and getting it in the mail tomorrow, but then noticed they wanted a doctor’s letter explaining any surgeries I’ve had and stating that I am in fact healthy. Oh how I hate road blocks! Anyway, I faxed a request to my doctor’s office. They said this normally takes 2 weeks, but they would try to push it through. I suppose I should get used to the waiting game!

I also contacted an agency that handles Home Studies. They came highly recommended. Although they cost more than another agency I was looking at, I may go with them based on the referral. I am actually attending a small meeting with them Tonight. Now THAT was fast! :-)

So, at least today I can say I’ve made progress! Hang on, Noel… we’re praying for you!

Hence the name “waiting for Noel”. I’ve always dreamed of having a daughter named Noel. After 3 years of trying, I am now set on adopting from China!
