Go outside & play.

I´ve had this goal for SO long…

and through no very organized or focused or purposeful effort on my part it´s been one of only two that pop up in my email inbox every SINGLE day…

and I thought, ´Well why not…´ so I never changed that

and today was the first time I realized

the goal is about PLAYING

not going outside

it´s about going outside to play

not because I should

or I have to because I have an obligation to myself and my loved ones and my potential future kid should I ever have one to be healthy and sane

I am to make time to try and photograph redwinged blackbirds on the nearby state park trail, today.

almost every day this week, and even got A. to take a couple walks with me. So did pretty well on this. Someday perhaps even hiking. Kite-flying is waiting on better weather and repair of the spar. Driveway paddleball is waiting on me strengthening my knee, so. Gym awaits my attention. Bleh.

leading to some almost but not quite too-interesting adventures in finding out more about my neighborhood.

we had to find a kite store to replace it (fortunately, cost a few $) and the kite store happened to be next to the Sports Arena, and a photographer covering the new show Walking With Dinosaurs had stopped in at the kite shop to chat with his friends there, and we found out that the show opened on New Year´s Day, and although we didn´t end up getting tickets (too pricey), as we´d seen the “Making of…Walking With Dinosaurs” on PBS last summer, it was rather thrilling to get a couple of pics of the dinos under wraps before being chased off by a security guard.

(wouldn´t that be a super job, to ride around in the head of a life-sized dino puppet??)
All because we went outside to play.

I’ve been hiding indoors most of the time ever since A’s car window got smashed while parked at the trailhead that’s near our house. Over and over I’ve allowed these sorts of events to make me disproportionately fearful=housebound. I have a right to be here too! :P :D Looks almost funny when I write down the feeling in words. maybe my recent misery is all due to a lack of sunlight and exercise. No one is going to swoop down and save me! I can’t wait to feel like it or I am going to do myself more harm than anyone else ever has.

Playing Demeter, I think I’ve neglected my plants. Expecting Mother Nature to water them. Eh, oh yeah, I live in the desert.
