take singing lessons

3 lessons so far. I am being taught a solo for christmas – called Nazareth – and I have had 3 very good lessons. I am going every other week and although I feel a bit worried before going – the time passes so quickly. Great!

I had a singing lesson today with Nigel. It was not at all what I expected. We worked on expanding my diaphragm, I had to take a breath in with my top teeth resting on my bottom lip, I had to bend my knees, stretch my arms up like I was a tug of war rope , then start the notes I was singing and gradually straighten up until I was standing on tippie toes! It felt very odd – I found it very hard to do all that – especially as my left arm does not straighten fully, and to be honest I am totally unsure if I want to go through all this again!

It is £26 a time, for an hour, nad he doesn’t really help you learn pieces – just technique. I want someone who teaches me songs I can do as solos with my choir, I don;t really care if my technique is not the best it could possibly be – I make a nice sound and I will never make singing my profession – I don;t have the build or the health for it.

So what should I do? I made a booking for another lesson next week – but I really feel I don’t want it – but I hate the idea of actually calling him and giving excuses for not wanting more lessons – I don’t know which excuse to use.

Karaoke is much more my scene!

I am sooooo nervous. I hope Nigel is friendly!

I am waiting for my new teacher to give me a call once he has moved to his new house and improved the glazing! Is my voice that bad ? Should be in the next week or two. I am very very nervous – more so with a male teacher – but also can’t wait to start.
