It’s snowing like crazy outside with a big radar paramecium headed our way. This morning, I woke to the sound of snow plows. There’s only been about an inch so far, with the bulk of it to fall today, but even so, there’s a sense of excitement in the air. The first big snowstorm of the season! All the schools are closed already: they’re not pussyfooting around with this one. I’m wearing athletic shoes (shy of Sorel boots, they offer the best traction on snow and ice), jeans and Performance Fleect rather than my standard business attire. It’s all about preparation. Modern convenience has made us soft, so we take our crises where we can.
So let it snow. And snow. And blow and snow. Even though I have to be at work, I will mentally batten down the hatches, nestle into my cubicle and prepare for the worst.
