Great fun!  — 1 year ago

I did it!!! (10K) I ran the first 2K and then ran on and off… Time of 1h 12min 12s, which apparently is not too bad, especially for somebody who doesnt usually run:) anyway, there was a great atmosphere, so Ill probably do it again next year…

This bank holiday week-end  — 1 year ago

The race is on Monday, so… 3 days!!! I’m actually starting to get excited about this… it should be fun:-) I’ll try running a bit maybe tomorrow or sunday, but not to much since I don’t wanna be tired on Monday!

Charity  — 1 year ago

I decided to collect for a charity… lots of people doing the mini-marathon seem to be doing that, and it seemed like a good idea.
Except I just went to their office which is about 30 min walk from mine and got soaked in the rain… only to be told I have to come back tomorrow! Ah well, it’s for a good cause, so it’s probably worth the effort… I’ll bring my umbrella tomorrow though!

OK, I’m not exactly training at a steady pace but at least I’m doing some training… I’ll try to run a bit more this week-end (after all, the “big day” is less than 2 weeks now…).

... run yesterday:-)
Well, walk 5 min / run 5 min/ walk 5 min / run 5 min /... type of thing, because my breathing is so rubbish!
Anyway, that’s still something, it means I should be able to at least run on and off on the day!
One of my flatmates ran a half marathon recently and she told me I won’t be able to run at the start anyway, because there will be so many people there won’t be enough space! So by the time the people clear up I’ll probably be a little impatient about getting to run, so I might just be able to keep it up a little longer (hopefully!):-)

(I really have to train for this mini-marathon thing, otherwise I’ll collapse after 10 min on the day!!!)

2nd week  — 1 year ago

Did quite a bit for the 1st week of training last week, but this week I’m kinda tired (I suppose it would help going to bed earlier instead of watching Desperate Housewives or Lost) so haven’t done anything yet. Well, I suppose Pilates doesn’t count;-)

and started training. There are 3 training programmes: walker/jogger/runner. I was going to just do the walker one but it starts off with walking 20 min to build up to 35min (in 8 weeks!!!). Since I can walk 35min any day, I thought I’d need a bit more of a challenge… So I went for the jogger one. It’s not exhaustingly strenuous either, but at least it involves some actual training:-)

I’ll prob end up walking most of it…
Anyway, step 1, Register! (I so need to get myself a credit card…)
Step 2 Convince somebody to do it with me. (looks difficult – might have to go directly to step 3)
Step 3 Choose a ‘meet and train’ group and start training.
