managed to start doing this…through making it a priority to not only take care of others but to take care of myself as well. I’ve been regularly taking time to read and do other things that are all about my own personal growth and development and realizing that I don’t have to be everybody’s everything…it’s ok to take time out for myself.

as I spend time in prayer and meditation. I’m realizing that you don’t “find” time…you “make” time…and you have to make time for that which is most important in your life. I’ve found that often the things I “need” to do aren’t really the ones that are most important to me. For example, I ‘need’ to do laundry…but I ‘want’ to spend time with my loving husband…by far, the time with my hubby is more important to me…even though we have to have clean clothes to wear…so I’m learning to make time for those things that are important to me.

to do this a bit more…it’s a matter of evaluating priorities. I have realized how important it is for me to have time to read, meditate, pray and spend time with my family…and that those chores or that work or those errands will still be waiting on me but my sanity might not be so it’s best to slow down every now and then and just enjoy life!

between cooking dinner, all the errands for my son and my own meeting obligations I still managed to find almost an hour to ‘just be’ with my wonderful husband. Didn’t do anything, didn’t even just talked…were just together…and that was definitely finding time for what I want most in the midst of all the things that I needed to get done.

The things that I need to do have to take priority because I have very important things to address. But I’m still trying to find down time for myself because it is important to build my spiritual and meditative life.

Though it wasn’t a conscious thought…but I went to dinner with a friend and didn’t worry about how long we just sat and talked and enjoyed the company. So instead of worrying about the laundry that wasn’t quite finished or the Christmas presents that still needed some wrapping, I just enjoyed my friend. So for a change I put what I wanted to do first…so that’s progress, right?

but I’m horrible about finding time to do things I want to do…I guess because we are all taught that it’s better to put other’s first…and so if you make time to do something you want to do you are being selfish…but that is’t really true…after all you can’t take care of others unless you first take care of yourself…and finding time for leisure is a part of taking care of yourself…so I’m going to try to get better at this.
