Stephen King has been one of my idols for roughly 20 years. His novels got me through junior high. I’ve read darn near everything he wrote. Yet the Dark TOwer series eludes me.
I finally cracked down and bought the first three books. He states in his intro that his two primary influences were “Lord of the Rings” and “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.” “Once Upon a Time in the West” is my all-time favorite western, and “The Gunslinger” is straight out that whole world.
So far I have read the first chapter and got through Chapter 2’s explanation of how Jake got to the Way Station.
I should note that I read “The Talisman” when I was fifteen. One of my favorite books ever. I’m very curious to see what similarities there are between that and this series.
