I’m not sure of the artist, but it was a gift from the artist to the Director of SafeRide and the NCPID. It hangs on the office wall, and I stared at this for many hours doing dispatch and taking info from HAMMERED individuals who can barely speak but seem to think it’s you who has the problem understanding… Excuse me, sir, could you translate “Drunk” for me?

The Piccirilli Brothers of New York carved the statue of Lincoln from 28 blocks of Georgia marble. It took a year for the six brothers to complete the work. Daniel Chester French often joined the workmen with a hammer and chisel. The Piccirillis’ carving is so well done it is almost impossible to see the seams in the marble.
