perfect the art of pellkartoffeln mit quark.
it may sound boring, but i’ve just realised it’s by far my favourite german dish: potatoes with quark and linseed oil. as served in the spreewald, delicious with a bit of raw onion and lots of fresh herbs. when i’ve mastered that, i can move on to frankfurt green sauce. they sell the appropriate herbs at our local purveyor of fine foods.

now that i’ve found out what a preserving pan is (thanks, silvie), there’s nowt stopping me. (except that i don’t know how to sterilise jam jars/have any jam jars/have any cloth caps for jam jars, etc etc etc.)

one of my problems is that i just have far too many cookbooks. i get myself in a muddled tizzy going through all of them and then just making the same old boring mush because i don’t have the ingredients for anything else. so i’m going to go about this systematically, choose 5 of st. delia’s recipes, buy the ingredients (or preferably: shake the ingredients off trees), and create culinary delights. can’t be that difficult, can it?
yum yum yum, starving!

and the old one is GONE. ha. alb is currently smoking out the flat by burning off the protective wrap. or something. i’m at the office now, so haven’t seen it yet, but this is a major breakthrough. stine may remember me whining about our crappy oven and resolving to get a new one, oooh, two years ago. well, it’s done! yay!
