about Buddhist philosophy, meditating, writings by the Dalai Lama and a kind of textbook on buddhist teachings. I got kind of interested in Buddhism after reading Deepak Chopra’s fictinal account of Buddha. His life was amazing and I wanted to learn more about his teachings. I’m excited to read these books and put into practice some of the meditation exercises. I think I lack discipline in this regard and feel hopeful that I will learn something.

Last night I meditated while looking at the stars in my backyard. It was so peaceful and cold! But once I started meditating I warmed up and felt good. I visualized myself in harmony with the world and became comfortable. It was a beautiful night and I felt calm and relaxed. I think this is something I would definitely like to do more often. When I was young and had lots of time/energy I used to meditate daily. Then I had kids, a career, husband, life. Now, kids are off at college, hubby is busy with his career, I’m retired and I have lots of time to goof off and um… meditate! So, yesh, I’d like to meditate again even if only to reflect upon the setting sun or the state of my navel (which I am slowly able to see again). Ahh, life is good. Namuamudabutsu…
