toilet train my cat

I went away for another over night and ever since I have not been able to get her back on track. I am using a small plastic storage container beside the toilet for a litter box. I will soon be moving in with a roommate who also has a cat and I don’t think starting training again right now will work. I really want to do this, but it may be smart to wait until I have a house of my own and a free bathroom.

Frustrating. She is still going on my floor. Only a couple of days has she used the toilet with the 4” hole for #2. She always does #1 in the toilet, but #2 is still a 50/50 chance. She even went on the mat I have under the toilet, which she never does because its “her” mat. She usually goes on the tile floor next to the toilet. I am also worried that since my next roomate might have a cat any training I do will be undone the second we move and she finds a litter box.

Ziggy did fine with the 3” hole, and even went in the toilet after I cut the 4” hole yesterday, but she went on the floor again this morning. Seems like I go through the same thing every time I make the hole a little larger. Couple days of on again off again performance, then she resigns to the fact that it isn’t going to get smaller because she wants it to. She def. is not a natural at this, but I am not giving up.

The hole is getting ever so slightly larger. At about 3” I am feeling like I am finally getting past the hardest point. As the hole gets larger I have learned to put toilet paper in the toilet so it floats and prevents splashing. This trick has really helped it seems. Hopefully the 4” hole is only a few days away….

Slowly but surely getting to the point where I can make the hole another inch larger. The last few days she has been good, but I still have her bed on the floor infront of the toilet to discourage any accidents.

Alright, I have looked all over and can’t figure out how to ask a question in the question part of this page. Does anyone know how you get a question to appear there?

Ziggy is back to using the toilet, but still holding it. Hopefully after another week things will be ready to continue moving forward. I may have a roommate in 3 months or so and I would love to be done this adventure by then because nobody wants to remove a litter tray every time they go to the bathroom! The hole is now at about 3 inches.

You would think I would be smart enough to just give up at some point. Sure enough I came home to #2 on the floor right next to the toilet. I went around the house gathering every cat bed and toy and littered the bathroom floor with them before I left this morning in hopes she has no choice but to use the toilet today. Now I am just hoping I remembered to put something in the sink.

Well, this last weekend I took a 3 day trip out of state and had to use a litter pan while traveling. I got home late last night and Ziggy has not used the toilet since then. She jumped up on it before I left for work, but jumped down after only a few seconds. Prob waiting until I left for work to go on the floor. I am hoping we don’t lose all the progress we have so far…. I can’t wait to get home.

Well, I thought all was going fine, but I left her Sat night and when I returned home the next day she had gone #2 on the floor beside the toilet. I swear it was out of revenge for me leaving her alone at night. And I thought we were doing well! She did go fine yesterday and this morning while I was around, but I guess this will slow things down till I can be sure she is 100% comfy with the whole thing. Maybe another week or two… Least I don’t have the feet issues a lot of people have. She knew to use the rim of the seat once I put a hole in the bowl.
