I do like jewellery but I so rarely wear any. One of the problems is that I treat jewellery and clothes the same way: secondary to books and films. If I have money, it goes on books and DVDs (or stationery, magazines, coffee drinks and eating out…).
I could do with more balance in my life, and it would be nice to not buy yet another 3 for 2 at Waterstone’s, when I could have bought myself a pair of earrings or a bracelet or something!
I currently own in the region of 400 books and 250+ DVDs. Conversely, I currently own two rings that don’t fit me any more because I’ve gained weight, two necklaces, and a small handful of earrings.
I do have a jewellery box from when I decided I was going to wear more jewellery, but it looks very spartan at the moment.
I tend to wear a lot of black, blue, purple, red and fuchsia, and it would be nice to have accessories to match.
In general, I prefer silver to gold, although the dark grey/black metals are good for a more goth look. I tend to opt for more delicate jewellery, as chunky looks too much on me, and not too blingy. I mean, I like precious stones, but just something small, not really flashy :)
I find it really hard to define taste in jewellery! I tend to be drawn to pendants, wavy patterns, hearts, teardrops, leaf designs, or just plain (like a bangle), but not so much to circles, ovals, squares or solid designs.
With earrings, for some reason, I’ve never got on with hoops. I’ve had my ears pierced since I was 12, so I should have had plenty of practice putting them in, but I still just wear drop earrings – never studs or hoops.
I’ll probably go to Glasgow in the New Year for shopping, so perhaps a trip to the jeweller’s is in order :)
